Everyone Owns the Same Five AI Stocks
Most investors are still crowded into the same mega-cap names.
But the next leg may not belong to the household names everyone already owns. It may belong to the suppliers, enablers and software businesses quietly benefiting while Wall Street keeps expanding AI budgets.
StockEarnings put nine of them in a free report.

🥇 The Week Even Gold Didn't Hold
What a week. When markets get scary, investors are supposed to run to gold, the ultimate safe haven but this week, gold ran the other way. It cracked hard and tumbled in one of its worst single days in years, right as stocks fell, China slid into a bear market, and oil surged. When the one asset that’s supposed to protect you is falling alongside everything else, you know it was an unusual and nervous week.
Gold’s rough week, and rough year
Here’s the part that surprises people. Gold isn’t falling from a high, it’s been struggling for months:
📉 It peaked back in January. Gold hit a record near $5,600 an ounce at the start of the year, and it’s down almost 30% since then. This has been a long, grinding drawdown, not a sudden crash.
🔻 This week made it worse. The metal plunged roughly 3% in a single session midweek, landing near $4,124, one of the steepest one-day declines since 2020.
🥈 Silver got hit harder. It dropped roughly 7% to the mid $50s, extending its own painful slide.
So the “safe haven” has quietly been one of the year’s more disappointing trades, and this week it just took another leg down as the fast money kept heading for the exits.
Stocks caught the fear too
The pain wasn’t limited to metals:
💻 Tech sank. The Nasdaq fell almost 3% in a single session, with the chip index getting hit especially hard.
😤 Good earnings didn’t help. Giants like Meta and Tesla reported solid numbers, but the market punished them anyway.
❓ The worry is simple. Everyone wants proof that the enormous sums being spent on AI will actually pay off, and beating expectations wasn’t enough to provide it.
China tips into a bear market
Overseas added to the gloom:
🐻 It’s official. China’s main index, the CSI 300, entered a “bear market,” down 20% from its recent peak.
📅 It’s a long slide. The index is now down for ten straight weeks.
🏦 Confidence is cracking. Chinese firms face shrinking profits and brutal competition, and nervous investors there are parking money in safer places.
Why it all happened at once
The common thread was oil and fear:
🛢️ Oil surged. Brent crude climbed above $112, the highest since spring, on fresh Middle East tension.
🔥 That fuels inflation fears. Higher oil keeps bond yields elevated and makes investors jumpy about interest rates.
🌊 The fear spread everywhere. That nervousness rippled into stocks, crypto, and even the metals that normally thrive on it. Almost nothing worked, and cash was the only thing that felt safe.
👀 Free Report: The 11-Hour Options Guide for Beginners (via Profits Run)
The Munch Take: My wife asked which of our investments did well this week, and after a long pause I told her the correct answer was “the ones we don’t own yet.” That sums up a week where even gold, the thing you’re supposed to hide in, headed for the door. There’s a real lesson buried in the chaos though. When every asset falls together, it’s usually not about the fundamentals of any single one. It’s about fear, forced unwinding of crowded trades, and a rush for cash. Those moments are uncomfortable, but they’re also how stretched trades get reset and how patient people build their watchlists. The thing to watch heading into next week is whether this was a healthy flush or the start of something deeper, and a lot of that rides on the big Fed decision on October 27 and 28. For now, weeks like this are a reminder that nothing moves in a straight line forever, not even gold. Stay calm, keep your list ready, and let the dust settle.
