BREAKING NEWS
🏛️ The Fed Decides, And Nobody Expects Fireworks
Mark 2 PM ET on your calendar, because the Federal Reserve announces its latest interest rate decision this afternoon. But here is the thing: almost nobody expects it to actually do anything. Markets are pricing in a 94% chance the Fed sits on its hands and leaves rates exactly where they are, in the 3.75% to 4.00% range. When the crowd is this certain, the decision itself becomes a non-event, and the real story moves elsewhere.
So why is a “do nothing” meeting still worth watching? Because of what comes next. Remember, the Fed already raised rates back in September, so this pause is a breather, not a victory lap. The genuine action is expected in December. A recent survey of 100 economists was unanimous, with every single one forecasting a rate hike at the December meeting. So the fight against inflation is far from over, no matter how quiet this afternoon looks.
Here is what actually matters when the announcement drops.
🗣️ The words beat the decision. Since the hold is basically locked in, investors will dissect every sentence from the Fed for hints about December. Any clue on whether that hike is truly coming will move the market.
🏠 Your costs are not dropping. A pause does not mean relief. Mortgage rates and credit card rates stay painfully high as long as the Fed keeps policy tight, which it clearly plans to do.
💻 Earnings pile on the drama. Three of the biggest companies on Earth, Microsoft, Alphabet, and Meta, all report earnings after the close. Fed day plus mega-cap tech makes this one of the loadest days of the year.
The Munch Take: With a hold basically locked in, we’re not expecting a ton of volatility from the decision itself, so do not brace for a wild swing at 2 PM. The piece that actually matters is the press conference afterward, when the Fed chair takes questions. That is where the real clues live. Listen closely for any hint about December, because the tone and word choice there will tell us far more than the rate decision ever could. Watch the words, not the number.

The AI boom has created more new wealth in the last three years than any other investment in history.
But now, a critical turning point is approaching.
Will you be on the right side?
STORY OF THE DAY
🐉 Could China’s AI Crash Happen Here?
China just gave the world a live demonstration of what an AI bubble popping looks like. The STAR 50, China’s index of top tech and chip companies, has crashed 40% since June, and Reuters reports the country’s AI bubble has officially “burst.” Trillions have been wiped from Chinese markets in recent months. You most likely don’t own a single Chinese stock, so the real question is the one that matters: could the exact same thing happen here in the US?
First, let’s be fair about the differences, because there are real ones. China’s market is far more speculative, driven heavily by everyday retail traders chasing momentum, which makes it prone to wild booms and brutal busts. Many of its hot AI names had barely any profits, trading on pure hope. At the peak, Chinese AI stocks traded at eye-watering prices, with some valued at over 200 times their earnings. The US giants like Nvidia and Microsoft, by contrast, are wildly profitable and trade at far saner valuations, so the American setup is genuinely sturdier.
But here is the uncomfortable part. The scariest similarity is concentration. In China, AI stocks made up a huge chunk of the entire market, so when they fell, everything fell. The US has the same problem creeping in, where a handful of massive AI names now dominate the indexes that millions of people own through their retirement funds. When everyone piles into the same trade, the unwind is always ugly, no matter the country.
💰 The US is healthier, not immune. American AI leaders actually make enormous profits and trade at reasonable prices, which is a real cushion China never had. That lowers the risk, but it does not erase it.
🎯 Concentration is the shared danger. Both markets lean heavily on a small group of AI stocks. If those few names stumble together, the broad index drops hard, exactly as it did in China.
🧊 Sentiment can turn fast. China shows how quickly a beloved trade can reverse once the mood shifts. Fear is contagious, and it does not respect borders when the whole world owns the same theme.
The Munch Take: We are not predicting a US crash, and we want to be clear about that. The American AI leaders are genuinely stronger businesses than most of China’s speculative names, and that difference matters a lot. But “it is different here” are famous last words, and the one thing both markets truly share is dangerous concentration. If you own a simple US index fund, you are far more exposed to a few AI giants than you probably realize. China is not a prophecy, but it is a warning worth respecting. Know what you own, understand how much of it rides on the AI trade, and do not assume strong fundamentals make you bulletproof.
MARKET OVERVIEW
🍟 Tasty Movers & Shakers
🔌 $AVGO Broadcom climbed 4.00% after D.A. Davidson upgraded it to Buy, pointing to the scale of its AI chip partnership with Anthropic revealed in the startup’s IPO filing. When a company’s name shows up big in the hottest AI filing around, Wall Street takes notice.
🛬 $JBLU JetBlue soared 18.99% after issuing an upbeat outlook despite a wider quarterly loss, as strong travel demand helped offset higher fuel costs. People clearly still want to fly, and that was enough to send this one flying.
🚢 $RCL Royal Caribbean rallied 5.39% after posting higher quarterly profit and raising its full-year forecast on steady cruise demand. The cruise comeback keeps chugging along, and this giant is riding the wave.
💻 $DELL Dell rose 7.36% after launching new cybersecurity tools built to protect AI systems and infrastructure. Every company racing into AI also needs to lock it down, and Dell wants a piece of that action.
🏦 $SOFI SoFi Technologies surged 13.42% on strong earnings fueled by booming consumer lending, and it raised its full-year revenue outlook too. The digital bank keeps proving the old guard should be paying attention.
STOCK OF THE DAY
✈️ Boeing’s Rough Year Just Got Worse
Yesterday was a brutal day for Boeing. The aerospace giant’s stock plunged more than 10%, its worst single-day drop since April 2025, erasing roughly $15 billion in market value in one session. The trigger was an ugly earnings report: Boeing posted another quarterly net loss and, more importantly, lowered its outlook for the future. Investors were hoping to see a company finally turning the corner, and instead they got fresh reasons to worry.
Here is the heart of the problem in plain terms. Boeing makes most of its money selling airplanes, but it keeps struggling to actually build them fast enough and cheaply enough. Its key factory ramp-up for the 737 Max, its best-selling jet, got pushed back again, now to the second half of 2027. The company also admitted it will miss its goal of delivering 500 of those planes this year, and it delayed its big cash-generation target all the way to 2029.
So why has Boeing been such an awful investment? The stock is down 26% just this year and down 18% over the past five years, which is dismal for a company this size. The simple answer is a string of crises. Deadly crashes, serious safety and quality scandals, and years of production problems have hammered its reputation and its finances. Fixing an airplane factory is slow, expensive work, and every delay burns cash and patience.
🛩️ The core business bleeds. Boeing’s Commercial Airplanes division lost $697 million in the quarter, showing the company still cannot make its main product profitably despite strong demand for jets.
📉 Recovery keeps slipping. Pushing its cash-flow goal to 2029 tells investors the turnaround is taking far longer than promised, and patience on Wall Street is running thin.
🏆 The demand is still there. Boeing sits on a record order backlog worth hundreds of billions, so customers clearly want its planes. The problem is purely building them, not selling them.
The Munch Take: Boeing is a genuinely world-class franchise trapped in a painfully slow turnaround, and yesterday was a reminder that these things take even longer than anyone hopes. The demand is not the issue, since airlines are lined up for years. The issue is execution, and that is the hardest thing to fix. We respect the long-term value of half a global jet duopoly, but we have said all along that we need to see real proof, climbing deliveries and actual cash flowing in, before getting excited. Yesterday was the opposite of proof. Great franchise, broken execution, and the clock keeps resetting.
