BREAKING NEWS

🎯 S&P Hits ATH While Venezuela Celebrates Its New Overlords

The S&P 500 smashed through to a new all-time high yesterday because apparently invading countries is bullish now. We're officially in full risk-on mode to start 2026.

The winners:

  • Tech stocks ripped double digits after Nvidia's CEO unveiled new hardware at CES

  • SanDisk, Western Digital, Seagate all mooned on AI hype (again)

  • Venezuela's stock market: +73% since Maduro's capture

Translation: The market looked at regime change, shrugged, and decided "more infrastructure contracts = buy everything."

The Munch Take: When stocks hit all-time highs after capturing a country and thinking about buying a second one (more on Greenland below), you're either witnessing the most resilient bull market in history or the biggest "ignore all red flags" rally ever. We're positioned for the former.

🥈 Silver Dethrones Nvidia: When Precious Metals Beat AI Hype

In news that sounds fake but isn't: Silver just surpassed Nvidia to become the 2nd-largest asset by market cap globally—sitting only below gold.

The numbers:

  • Silver hit $80/oz yesterday

  • Already up 13% in 2026 (that's 6 trading days, for those counting)

  • Analysts forecasting $100-$125 by late 2026

Why the explosion: Silver's no longer just a shiny rock—it's a strategic war material. You can't build missiles, satellites, solar panels, or advanced electronics without it. If Trump's moving toward "Fortress America" and NATO's fracturing, industrial demand for silver goes parabolic.

The Munch Take: We've been saying this for weeks—silver's the asymmetric bet of 2026. It's both an inflation hedge and a critical industrial metal. If geopolitical tensions escalate (spoiler: they will), $100 silver isn't a prediction, it's a timeline question. We're holding Bitcoin instead, but remain bullish.

BIG PICTURE

🇬🇱 Trump Wants Greenland?

Trump just said the US "needs Greenland for national security" because it's "covered with Russian and Chinese ships." The Danish Prime Minister's response? "If Donald Trump attacks Greenland, it will be the end of NATO."

Let that sink in.

What prediction markets are saying:

  • 38% chance Trump "takes control of any part of Greenland" before early 2029

  • Odds of invasion jumped from less than 30% to 38% in days

  • Kalshi betting volume hit $2.5 million on Greenland scenarios

Why this matters way more than Venezuela:

Venezuela was framed as "stopping bad guys." Greenland? This is alliance fracturing. If the US attacks Danish territory (Denmark's a NATO ally), Article 5 gets triggered—meaning NATO either collapses or Europe goes to war with America.

Market implications if this escalates:

  • European equities crater (DAX, CAC 40 collapse)

  • US defense stocks moon (Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman)

  • Gold and Bitcoin spike as safe havens during treaty breakdown

  • Rare earth miners explode (Greenland has massive rare earth deposits critical for tech/defense)

  • Dollar rallies short-term (flight to safety), then craters long-term (loss of global trust)

The Munch Take: This is the wildcard we didn't see coming. Venezuela was a footnote. Greenland is a paradigm shift. If Trump actually moves on this, we're not talking 5% corrections—we're talking regime change in global security architecture.

Our positioning: Long-term, markets always recover. Panic-selling over Greenland is like dumping your portfolio because your neighbor sneezed. We're holding Bitcoin (governments can't invade decentralized code... yet), watching defense stocks, and keeping 20% cash for when fear puts quality assets on sale.

MARKET OVERVIEW

🍿 Tasty Movers & Shakers

💻️ $SNDK – SanDisk was the best performing S&P 500 stock in 2025 (up 577%) and is also the best performer in 2026 so far (already up 47%). Time to pivot from "trading analyst" to "guy who sells memory cards."

$WMT – Walmart now accepts Bitcoin at checkout via OnePay Cash. Every Boomer who said "you can't buy groceries with fake internet money" just got proven wrong. The future is here, and it's paying for rotisserie chickens with decentralized currency while Boomers fumble with checkbooks.

🛢️ $CVX – Chevron crashed 4.46%, giving back most of its Venezuela invasion gains. The culprit? They're selling shares to fund infrastructure projects. Turns out rebuilding a country's oil infrastructure after regime change is expensive. Who knew? (Everyone. Everyone knew.)

🍔 $SHAK – Shake Shack ripped 7.61% after Deutsche Bank upgraded them from Hold to Buy, citing increased traffic from the upcoming World Cup. Yeah, let’s pretend that’s the reason and not our recent credit card statement…

👟 $ADDYY – Adidas dropped 4.13% after Bank of America warned that Nike pressure could hurt growth. Translation: the sneaker wars continue, and apparently one German shoe company can't handle one American shoe company's vibes. Riveting.

💬 IPO Alert – Rumors swirling that Discord is going public. All those hours we've wasted lurking in trading chats are finally paying off—not for us, obviously, but definitely for Discord's valuation. You're welcome, future shareholders.
